I chose to start my PRE farm/business for a few reasons which are explained on my website, www.kensingtonridgefarms.com one of the reasons is, I like a few others have a theory, mares are contenders in the dressage arena! However, I personally, like many of you if not most of you love stallions. Who does not love a handsome, strong, noble stallion. That is what the breed is known for. Movies, fairy tails and dreams are made with Spanish STALLIONS in mind, not mares. A few farms/breeders and trainers have begun to look past the norm and step outside of the box and single out a select few, mares to train for competition. Mainly dressage for now but in time hopefully it will be for more disciplines. It will all depend on what our “girls” show us they are made of. I for one am extremely impressed with what is sitting in my barn right now. Alba and Capitana are “MORE” than expected and its only been 8 days. The personality on these two girls is remarkable. After a grueling trip, quarantine, new country, new people and language, food, environment etc. they are happy and curious even playful as you can see. Now girls, lets see what you’ve got! ?

- Hovis’ Friday diary: ‘2024 is gone faster than a Polo mint near my left nostril’ December 20, 2024Dear diary, This will be my final diary… of 2024 anyways, before you all do a mother and panic more than a Victoria’s Secret model near an open flame… It’s kissmuss next week and then it will be New Year’s and then poof! Just like that 2024 is gone faster than a Polo mint near […]
- Hovis’ Friday diary: ‘I had to battle my urge to go absolutely full scale cowabunga...’ December 13, 2024Dear Diary It’s fair to say as we head into the festive period, it’s been a week of ups and downs – mostly in terms of mother’s blood pressure and the likelihood of her killing me before New Year. At the weekend Storm Blowy-Flowy hit and the batons were firmly pulled down – well they […]
- Hovis’ Friday diary: ‘This idea has more legs than a caterpillar convention’ December 6, 2024Dear diary, Ok, fess up? Who has pi$$ed her off again? And no, I don’t mean mother – I am all too aware that someone breathing in her vicinity at the moment is pi$$ing her off due to her inability to lift, bend, twist, drive or generally do anything that in her view would make […]
- Hovis’ Friday diary: ‘About as much use as boobies on a fish’ November 29, 2024Hovis with Laura Colett, one of her horses and Hamish. Dear diary, Lord knows if this is going to even read as English; mother is a drugged up fruit loop at the moment and making about as much sense as a TOWIE cast member at a spelling bee. For those who don’t know, she had […]
- Hovis’ Friday diary: Sir Hovis has such a nice ring, doesn’t it? November 22, 2024Hovis with John Whitaker and the mothership. Dear diary, Let me start off with an apology – the mothership had spinal fusion L5/4, L4/3, L3/2 last Thursday and is thus taking my dictation somewhat off her trolley on painkillers. She can’t spell on a good day so lord knows what it will be like after […]
- Hovis’ Friday diary: ‘Where does one start when Ros Canter has ridden moi in front of my adoring fans...?!’ November 15, 2024Hovis being ridden by Ros Canter, next to Laura Collett, at Your Horse Live. Dear Diary, Well, where does one start? WHAT a weekend! There is no way even with my brilliance that I can contain 2 ½ days of activity into one diary entry, so, as per previous years, I will split my account […]
